About the R36 Plus
The R36 Plus is a budget handheld built around the mature Rockchip RK3326 chip, paired with an unusual 4-inch square 720x720 IPS screen. It ships with a modded Linux build that boots straight into a game library, and it happily accepts community firmware such as ArkOS or JelOS.
This is a device for someone who mostly wants NES through PS1 gaming on the cheap, with light dabbling into N64, Dreamcast and PSP. The square screen suits vertical arcade titles and Game Boy games nicely, though it is not the console to reach for if you want reliable GameCube or PS2 emulation.
