About the Anbernic RG DDS
The RG DDS is Anbernic's new flagship, and it's built around one idea: playing 3DS games the way they were meant to look. It's a clamshell with two IPS screens, a 4.7-inch 1200x720 panel on top and a 4-inch 960x720 one below, and each is exactly three times the resolution of the matching 3DS screen, so games scale cleanly with no stretching or blur. Inside is a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 with a fan, a 6000mAh battery, two sticks and a stylus that tucks into the body.
It's pre-order only for now. Anbernic says shipping starts on 10 December and finishes by 31 January, and as of mid-October nobody independent has reviewed one, so everything here comes from Anbernic's own announcement. Going by other handhelds with the same chip, expect most 3DS games, plus PS2 and GameCube, to run well, and don't buy it for Wii U or PS3, whatever the launch videos show. At around $285 it also costs more than Retroid's Pocket Duo, which has OLED screens, so if you're not in a hurry it's worth waiting for the first proper reviews.
